CASA of South Mississippi Welcomes 15 New Advocates

CASA of South Mississippi will formally swear in 15 new CASA volunteer advocates during an upcoming swearing-in ceremony on February 10, 2026, at 6pm at the Knight Nonprofit Center, 11975 Seaway Road, Gulfport, MS  39503, marking the moment these volunteers officially step into one of the most meaningful roles for children in foster care.

Paws for the Cause: Care for the dog that cares for children

Since her debut in August of 2020, Remi the Courthouse Facility Dog has attended over 400 court hearings, helped over 200 children, and provided comfort to countless child welfare professionals, attorneys, court clerks, judges, and advocates. Remi is now 8 years old and top health, providing court support in Hancock, Harrison, & Stone Counties in Mississippi alongside her primary handler, Naomi Strawhorn, and secondary handler Linda Perkes.

Special thanks to Dr. Charlie West, who sponsored all of Remi’s medical care from 2020 through 2025! This year, in 2026, CASA is raising funds to support Remi’s preventive routine medical care. Our goal is $2,000.
