Julie was sworn in as an advocate in February 2010. She is our first advocate to serve for a decade. Over the course of her volunteer work with CASA, Julie has advocated for 37 children! Not only has Julie served and been a bold voice for child victims of abuse and neglect, she has also helped recruit several of our current CASA advocates. She has also been a connecting person for many of our Friends of CASA to help our program grow! Julie is a true definition of an advocate in every way, and she is not afraid to roll up her sleeves and help families through their hardships for the best outcomes for kids. Julie‘s advocacy is a family affair: her husband Kelly always supports CASA’s events and fundraisers, and her children and grandchildren attend CASA events to help support Julie and the work that she does for our community!

To honor Julie‘s decade of service, we will be creating the Julie Cannon Champion for Children Award and will be giving out the first ever award at this year’s Light of Hope Ceremony!

Julie, thank you for your dedication and drive to always stand up for what is right and truly to be the voice of the children in Hancock County!
