Since August 2020, Remi the Courthouse Facility Dog & her handler Naomi Strawhorn have been serving children as they testify in court primarily in Hancock County, where the CASA of South Mississippi program began. Since our expansion over a year ago into Harrison & Stone Counties, CASA’s leadership knew that this Facility Dog Team must also grow to meet a greater service area.
At the end of April, Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month, CASA is proud to introduce Advocate Supervisor Linda Perkes as a newly ADI-certified secondary handler, who will be able to assist in accompanying children to Harrison County Youth Court. Special thanks to Danielle at Canine Companions in Orlando, FL for spending two days with this crew and for her work training and certifying this bigger and better Courthouse Facility Dog Team!
