Volunteering as a CASA advocate allows you the opportunity to invest in children who live in your own community. These children are victims of child abuse and neglect and have done nothing wrong. They are in need of a voice as they go through the youth court system to ensure that their best interest in conveyed through the legal system.
- A CASA does not replace the social worker but works with them.
- A CASA is not a lawyer however as a CASA you will work with the child’s attorney.
- A CASA has the unique ability to focus solely on the child.
- CASA is the only organization that empowers everyday citizens as appointed officers of the Court.
We will provide you with the training necessary to perform your role as a CASA. You will be required to submit to background checks, complete an interview process and participate in a 30 hour training.
CASA training will begin on January 14, 2014. The first step is to attend an orientation session. If you are interested in joining the January class please email us at cynthia@casahancockcounty.org to schedule your orientation.
