Trust-Based Relational Intervention®
Trust-Based Relational Intervention®, or TBRI®, is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. TBRI uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI is connection.

The TBRI Learning Collaborative cohorts are led by CASA to provide TBRI training for professionals in the state of Mississippi who are seeking to implement trauma-responsive practices within their programming and/or services. This opportunity is offered to organizations who are connected to the collaborative work within the state.
The twin objectives of TBRI Learning Collaboratives are to (1) create a dynamic TBRI learning community with shared values and vocabulary in a specific geographic location and (2) identify individuals who would benefit from additional training.
TBRI® Practitioner Supportive Networks
CASA of South Mississippi facilitates the voluntary inter-agency collaborative of Practitioners within the state. These agencies include Choices Coordinated Care Solutions, Mississippi State University, the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services, Hancock and Harrison Youth Courts, Pine Belt Mental Healthcare, Rescue 100, and many more.
Participating in these networks offers greater amounts of support to agencies and organizations who are hoping to implement trauma-wise practices on a deep level. To learn more about monthly Zoom TBRI Check-Ins, please contact naomi@casasouthms.org.
Since February 2024, CASA of South Mississippi has been the TBRI® Ambassador Organization, as recognized by TCU’s Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD). TBRI® Ambassador Organizations are identified as key partners who have long-term relationships with the Purvis Institute and are furthering its mission at a systemic level using TBRI®. The partnership multiplies the work of both CASA of South Mississippi and KPICD.
Statewide TBRI® Implementation
CASA of South Mississippi coordinates the statewide implementation of TBRI across multiple sectors including Youth Courts, juvenile justice, mental health professionals, educators, child welfare, and many others.
These efforts include hosting monthly TBRI Practitioner online meetings, coordinating training for courts, providing statewide TBRI Training to professionals, hosting skill-building trainings for practitioners, supporting ongoing modeling for partner organizations, developing a Trust-Based Workplace model, and providing technical support for TBRI Practitioners.
